Kurzbio

Prof. Dr. Eckhard Janeba ist seit 2004 Professor für Volkswirtschaftslehre in den Gebieten Finanzwissenschaft und Wirtschaftspolitik an der Universität Mannheim. Seit 2011 ist er stellvertretender Sprecher des Sonderforschungsbereichs 884: Political Economy of Reforms an der gleichen Institution. Professor Janeba ist Mitglied des Wissenschaftlichen Beirat beim Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie, dessen stellvertretender Vorsitzender er seit Mai 2012 ist. Darüber hinaus gehört er dem CESifo Forschungsnetzwerk an, ist als Research Fellow am Oxford University Center for Business Taxation und als Research Associate beim ZEW Mannheim aktiv.

Die akademische Laufbahn von Eckhard Janeba führt über den Abschluss als Diplom-Volkswirt an der Universität Bonn (1990) und der Promotion (Dr. rer. Pol.) zum Thema International Tax Competition an der gleichen Universität (1994) in die USA. Dort war er Assistenz Professor an der Indiana University in Bloomington (1994-1999), und im Anschluss daran an der University of Colorado in Boulder (1999-2004) tätig, zuletzt als Associate Professor für Volkswirtschaftlehre und Internationale Beziehungen (mit „tenure“).

Eckhard Janebas Schwerpunkte in Forschung und Lehre befinden sich in den Bereichen Finanzwissenschaft, Außenhandel und Auswirkungen der Globalisierung auf staatliches Handeln. Er hat grundlegende Arbeiten zur Theorie des Steuerwettbewerbs verfasst. Eckhard Janeba hat in vielen internationalen Zeitschriften publiziert, darunter im American Economic Review, European Economic Review, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of International Economics und Economic Journal. Seit 2010 ist Professor Janeba Mitherausgeber der Zeitschrift International Tax and Public Finance und seit 2011 ist er als Associate Editor beim European Economic Review tätig.
